Technical education:
Studied mechanical engineering with a specialisation in manufacturing technology at the Technical University of Munich. Worked as a design engineer at Krauss-Maffei Verfahrenstechnik GmbH. Completed his diploma thesis at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Munich under Prof. Dr Milberg. Began training as a patent attorney at the end of 1993. Patent attorney since 1997, representative before the European Patent Office since 1999, admitted to the Unified Patent Court.

With more than 350 contentious cases over the last 25 years, Mr Weigel has extensive experience in opposition and appeal proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and the European Patent Office, as well as in nullity and infringement proceedings before the courts.
